Story
I am aiming to raise money for the Amy Gilett Foundation to assist them in making the roads a safer place for all cyclists. I would welcome any contribution, great or small, that you could make!
Every year nearly 40 people die while riding bikes on Australian roads. Thats one person every 10 days.
One in five people injured on Australian roads is a person riding their bike.
That person is loved by their family, friends and community. That person deserved protection and safety to make it home.
The Amy Gillett Foundation supports research, creates education programs and advocates for safe cycling - everything we do is to make it safe for people to ride home to the people they love.
Their mission is for safe cycling in Australia. Their vision is for zero deaths and injuries of people riding bikes on our roads. With your help, we know this is achievable.
Amy Gillett Foundation
The Amy Gillett Foundation (AGF) began its work in 2006 in the name of Amy Gillett, who was tragically killed as a result of being hit by a motorist whilst cycling with the Australian Women’s Road cycling team in Germany in 2005.
The Amy Gillett Foundation's vision is for safe bicycling throughout Australia in order to achieve the ultimate target of zero bicycling fatalities.
The Foundation promotes a safe and harmonious relationship of shared respect between bicyclists and motorists – to highlight the importance of being responsible every time we head out on the road whether we're on two wheels or on four. Why? Because everyone deserves to arrive at their destination safely irrespective of their chosen mode of transport.
